My name is Kaitlin Dobson, and I graduated from Johnson & Wales University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling M.S. program in May 2024, interning at East Coast Mental Wellness during this program. My undergraduate degree is in Human Development and Family Studies from American Public University, with credits transferred from Rhode Island College. I have previous experience working in the Emergency Department at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, volunteering with inpatient children at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and the Aubin Center, providing home-based therapeutic care to children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and tutoring college students.

With clients, my priority is to provide a compassionate, empathetic space where you feel empowered to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences through a strength-based, client-centered approach. I will ensure that our sessions are a sanctuary where you are always safe, seen, and heard. I specialize in working with older adolescents, young adults, and LGBTQ+ individuals, helping you navigate life’s challenges and transitions with self-compassion.

My therapeutic style is integrative, combining evidence-based practices from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) with techniques and principles from positive psychology, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and narrative therapy. These modalities allow us to work collaboratively in understanding, coping with, and managing life stressors or any obstacles that may arise. During our sessions, we will assess which modalities will best benefit you and your therapeutic needs.

In addition to my role as a therapist, I serve as an academic success coach at the collegiate level, where I provide guidance on time management, organization, planning, study, and reading skills. I am happy to share these skills with you on the journey you are embarking on, whether academic, personal, or professional, or intertwined.

Together, through your motivation to change and our collaborative efforts, we will work toward a life that is fulfilling, rewarding, and uniquely yours. I am here to share the tools, support, and encouragement you need to thrive in life.
