Social-Emotional Learning Therapy

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on developing the social and emotional skills necessary for individuals to manage their emotions, build healthy relationships, make responsible decisions, and navigate social environments effectively. SEL therapy is often used with children and adolescents but can be beneficial for people of all ages. It draws on the principles of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), which is commonly used in educational settings to promote emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.

Key Concepts of Social-Emotional Learning Therapy

  • Self-Awareness: This involves helping clients recognize and understand their own emotions, thoughts, and values. Developing self-awareness is the foundation for better emotional regulation and decision-making.

  • Self-Management: SEL therapy teaches clients how to regulate their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in different situations. This includes developing coping strategies for managing stress, controlling impulses, and setting and achieving goals.

  • Social Awareness: Clients learn to understand and empathize with others, including those from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Social awareness involves recognizing social cues, understanding social norms, and appreciating different perspectives.

  • Relationship Skills: SEL therapy emphasizes building and maintaining healthy and rewarding relationships. This includes skills like effective communication, active listening, cooperation, conflict resolution, and seeking and offering help when needed.

  • Responsible Decision-Making: Clients are guided to make choices that are respectful, ethical, and considerate of the well-being of themselves and others. This involves evaluating the consequences of actions and understanding how decisions align with personal and social values.

Couples therapy

Clients participating in breathwork therapy can expect a deeply immersive and transformative experience. The therapy is designed to help clients access deeper layers of consciousness, process unresolved emotions, and enhance overall well-being through the power of controlled and conscious breathing. While the experience can vary widely from session to session, clients generally leave feeling more connected to themselves, emotionally balanced, and often with new insights into their personal journey.
