Kristofer Marasco, LCSW
He/Him/His
Hello, my name is Kris. I practice from a humanistic-existential paradigm and believe every individual deserves dignity and respect with a right to mental health treatment that allows them to be the best version of themselves. My goal is to work with my clients to assist them in developing healthy skills in managing whatever adversity they are presently facing and add to their toolbox of resilience to manage whatever challenges the future might bring.
I do not believe therapy can be provided off the rack as a one-size fits all approach. Every individual deserves a process as unique as they are that best fits their personalized treatment goals. In search of that mission, I tend to employ a “tapestry of modalities,” utilizing features from mindfulness-based CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and more. Ultimately the most important piece of the therapeutic relationship is trust, which I intend to build to provide each client a safe space to express themselves without fear of judgment.
Social work was a pursuit of passion as I made a career change in my early thirties. I graduated from Rhode Island College in 2018 with my MSW and have worked primarily in acute inpatient psychiatry at Rhode Island Hospital and Butler Hospital. I have experience with the LGBTQ+ community, older adolescents, adults, and geriatric adults with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, and much more.
